One of the best introductions to the practice of Wicca out there for those who want their religion to be personal and not about being part of a group. ( )

Scott Cunningham gives clear, concise information about witchcraft and the Wiccan lifestyle. After reading this book, I was thrilled to stumble across The Truth About Witchcraft Today, which is a further study of the topic.

After reading both books I couldn't help but wonder how many people would be much happier if they left behind the patriarchal, political dogma of most organized religions and instead followed an Earth based religion. ( )

Cunningham's first book in solitary practice is readable and enjoyable. These books really opened up the practice of Wicca for solitaries. The book is one I find myself recommending to others very frequently, especially beginner's on the path. I find his common sense approach and his style of writing makes reading this book very enjoyable as well as informative. ( )

A well written book, it does cater to the newbie, but worth reading no matter how experienced you are as it has some great tidbits and info. There are lovely little poems in the middle and some recipes. A keeper for any wiccan bookshelf ( )

Book description

Amazon.com (ISBN 0875421180, Paperback)

Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner is the essential primer from one of the best known authors on Wicca. Focusing on the importance of individualism in your spiritual path, Cunningham explains the very basics of Sabbats (holy days), ceremonies, altars, and other nuts and bolts of Wicca that a solitary practitioner may have trouble finding elsewhere. While Wicca shouldn't be your sole point of reference when considering Wicca as your way of life, it is one of the best starting points. --Brian Patterson
