This book talks about the journey of Thomas Jefferson. A lot of David Adler's books can be used to teach children about history and they can read these nonfiction books to get facts and details about many historical figures.

This book tells about Thomas Jefferson's life and all he did for our country. The book is filled with detailed pictures. The pictures will help the kids understand Thomas Jefferson's life. ( )

This picture book focuses on the life and accomplishments of former president Thomas Jefferson. This book is very easy to read and also has great illustrations which are relatable to the younger children. It follows Thomas Jefferson's life from birth to death and addresses all major inventions, accomplishments, and significant events.

I would use this book in a first or second grade classroom for a history unit or when learning about biographies. ( )

This picture book biography has lots of biographical information but is written and illustrated in such a great manner that when reading this to young students I do not think they will get bored. The great illustrations on each page give young readers a lot to look at while reading this book. I also love how this book ends with a timeline of important dates which can be helpful in teaching young readers about the key points in history. ( )

A Picture Book of Thomas Jefferson by David A. Adler tells the story of Thomas Jefferson’s life from birth, April 13, 1743, to his death on July 4, 1826. The story was written in a very simplified way that would keep a child’s attention. It does give important information that Thomas Jefferson was known for and how he didn’t like slavery, yet he continued to keep slaves.
The book was covered with a jacket. On the inside of the front jacket was a synopsis of Thomas Jefferson, and the back jacket contained information about the author and his other books he published. It tells of some review concerning his other writing such as, School Library Journal, New York Times, and Booklist. Not much was said about Adler’s education. I liked the Title Page and all of the pages throughout the book. All of the pages have a picture with a border or frame around it. It has a border and the title is large with a smaller picture below; it is not too busy. The copyright page has a small picture to help invite someone to look at it, as well as enough information and Adler’s previous books, also, a Summary stating what the book is about. There is also a Dedication Page with a small picture. There was no Table of Contents page because there were no Chapters. At the end of the book there was only an Important Dates page. There was no glossary, which the book really didn’t need either. ( )
