Work detailsThe Yucky Reptile Alphabet Book (Jerry Pallotta's Alphabet Books) by Jerry Pallotta
None. Great information about common and unusual reptiles. One (or more) for each letter of the alphabet. This would be a great book for boys to read. I think their attention will be caught by the word “yucky”. It’s a great ABC book that is filled with a lot of information about various reptiles. It could be used in grades 1-4. My nephew who is 5, loved looking at the pictures. I think this would be great to use as a text innovation. Students could each pick a letter of the alphabet and find an animal to go with it. The class could then make a collective ABC book about yucky, gross, or pretty, beautiful animals, reptiles, or insects. The book The Yucky Reptile Alphabet Book by Jerry Pallotta and illustrated by Ralph Masiello is one of my favorite books about reptiles! The book is set up in ABC format, with a different reptile for each letter of the alphabet. This set up allows for a wide range of reptiles to be portrayed in the book. It includes vivid illustrations instead of real pictures that sometimes show the reptiles in humorous ways, instead of just perched on a branch. Some of the rhymes about each reptile include funny sayings as well. I would most likely use this book in any grade from 2nd to 6th. It is humorous and fun. I also think that it depicts each certain reptile accurately and in a way that students can understand and relate to. I would use this book when teaching a lesson about the differences between reptiles and amphibians. I could also use this book as an individual research resource for students when they are doing a project on specific reptiles because it contains some rare reptiles that may be hard to find information on. The Yucky Reptile Alphabet Book is a great choice of books for readers from about ages 4 to 8. The brightly colored pictures will interest them and the brilliant word choice will enthrall them and get them intrigued in reptiles. They will learn about reptiles and some of their most interesting characteristics, like how the chameleon's tongue can be twice as long as its body. http://www.ickybugman.com/reptile_book.html is an informative website that has projects, coloring books, pictures, and more about The Yucky Reptile Alphabet Book. no reviews | add a review
