Loading... The Serial Killers Clubby Jeff Povey
Laugh out loud funny. I loved this book. Yovu take an average guy and insert him into a club full of serial killers. Not only is he not appalled, but in order to stay in the club (when members singularly realize that he may not actually be one of them), he becomes one of them by becoming a serial of serial killers. Very humorous and very ironic. I really wanted to like this book. It seemed like a fairly orginal premise, but it just didn't keep my attention. I did not care about any of the characters and only finished it through shear force of will. BOOK #21 REVIEW: I highly enjoyed this book. Povey's fast moving story, humor and wit is wonderful (I actually found myself laughing out loud!) and I love how "un-hero" Dougie is. I have to say I fell for the plot devices and thought I knew how the book was going to end and was overjoyed when it went another direction- I hate being smarter then the author/main character! If you're looking for a great twist on the "normal" book, pick up this one! (Sorry this review is a little crazy- I've had too much coffee to make any sense!) FAVORITE QUOTES: That's good. A lot wight is always good. A main light tends to add a starkness, the low light adds mystery and a black-and-white B-movie nuance. // When I finally arrive at my intended destination, I feel so down that I tip the driver only a quarter, because depression like this should be shared. // I feel like someone trapped in the eye of a hurricane; the world is spinning around me, and the air is getting sucked from my lungs. What would you do if you accidentally killed a serial killer who was trying to kill you? Why hide his body and assume his identity, of course. And when you find a criptic personals ad inviting you (well, the serial killer) to a meeting of serial killers in Chicago, it only seems reasonable to move to Chicago in order to go to these meetings. Our hero, Dougie, does just this. The club becomes so important to him, that when anyone begins to suspect him of not being a killer, well, he has to kill them. More complications crop up when Dougie is confronted a an FBI agent. This is very dark but hilarious. I am beginning to wonder what my liking this book, says about me. Hmmm... |

The mean character ends up joining a serial killers club and finding true meaning in it, but then he has to deal with another serial killer, a love interest, and an FBI agent who won't go away.
It's pretty predictable.
