Will Lulu be able to save a wounded pony and make new friends in a new town? Girls interested in ponies (not horses! according to the book, but horse lovers won't have any problem here) and friendship will feel right at home with Lulu's plights. While Lulu's life may be a bit unbelievable, with a huge allowance and a father doing research in Brazil, her love for animals is easily related to. The actions of Lulu and those around her in regards to the hurt pony create extra tension, as some work to save the pony while the owner only wants it put down. Full page illustrations with each chapter help bring the story to life. An easy choice for those interested in ponies/horses, but nothing to offer outside of that. ( )
