This book goes over the basics of the digestive system in a fun, interesting way: a child, Sam, has a full conversation with his mother where they are sharing their knowledge of it while Sam's mom makes him a pizza for lunch. The illustrations not only provide great demonstrations but do it in a way that peaks the reader's interest even more: whomever is telling the fact is shown standing inside that part of the human body. The author and illustrator did a fantastic job and actually managed to avoid anything that would illicit bathroom jokes towards the end of the book. I very much enjoyed this book and would encourage parents, guardians, and teachers to share it with their kids. ( )

Sam learns the journey his food takes as he eats his lunch. The digestive proess is taught in a very simple, visual form that children would be able to understand easily. The book also teaches many technical terms, such as esophagus. ( )
