I wanted to like this book; it was well-written, and I could see the humor behind it-- but in the end, and I hate to sound like a prude, it made light of all the wrong things, a pretty one-sided consideration of a hapless bunch. ( )

Japan in the mid 20th century was a very prude culture to live in and the hidden, carnal desires of many individuals makes the job of creating pornography very lucrative. This book is the tale of a few friends who make their living giving people their pornographic fix. ( )
