This book caters to a very specific demographic; if you didn't grow up watching the same TV as the book's authors (so, late 20s to mid 30s), a lot of the references are going to go over your head. Apart from that, it's a fun pop-culture bathroom book about some of TVs bests and worsts; I'd imagine the book would be enjoyable for anyone who enjoys snarky sarcastic humor, pop-cult-iana, or the televisionwithoutpity.com website. The problem is, the best parts of the website don't translate as well to condensed print format. Reading it, there were some entries I wished would be longer, some I didn't really care about, some I laughed out loud at, but in general, the short encylopaedia format doesn't really give enough space for the typical TWoP snark to bloom.

Brought to you by the folks at Televisionwithoutpity.com, this “encyclopedia” of television shows, performers, cliches, catchphrases, trends and inaccuracies is non-stop laughter. Typical entries include: “Cosby sweater,” “show killers,” “Brady Bunch, Musical Stylings of” and “Sexual Tension, Ruination of Show by Resolving.”

If you like TV and better yet like making fun of TV, you’ll LOVE this book! ( )
