A short story which provides the background and rationale for how and why Fred Johnson became known as "the butcher of Anderson Station" and then the head of the OPA. Better than filler, but not surprising. Another reviewer described it as an hourlong installment in the TV show (a flashback special, maybe?) and that seems about right. ( )

Adds nice background to a loose end in the first Expanse novel. ( )

Great little short story. It reads like an hour long episode of television, and details the events that caused Fred Johnson to switch from the Earth-Mars Navy to the OPA. ( )

A brief look into the events that shaped Colonel Fred Johnson as he went from “The Butcher of Anderson Station” to the nominal leader of the Outer Planets Alliance, committing to advocate for the people he’d been rewarded for slaughtering.
Probably confusing if you haven’t read at least Leviathan Wakes, but a nice insight into both the character and the politics of this universe. ( )
