Cold Mirrors is a collection of short stories by horror writer CJ Lines. The stories have elements of the macabre, the weird, the creepy, the horrifying and the downright strange and they keep you turning the pages to see what happens next. There is a level of gruesome gore but it's toned down for the most part. Some of the stories truly are going to stick in your mind long after and at least one might have you thinking twice about life in the cyber world. The Trending tells the tale of a bereaved man trying to work group magic via Twitter with results that show you really shouldn't mess with the undead. There's a story about a Victorian "freak show" (Patrick O'Hare: King of the Freaks) which really made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. It's both horrifying and tragic. If you're afraid of puppets, you might want to skip Debut or at least, read it in daylight, not before bed! Mr. Lines' prose is descriptive and colourful and it really brings the story to life, but considering the themes of some of these stories, you may think that's a bad thing! ( )
