I am the author of this book, "A Painful Truth, The Entrapment of America’s Sick, written about my experience on November 2010, at age 52, when I was arrested for ordering pain medication online to battle a chronic and painful illness of over a decade. Having no insurance, all doctors had refused to see me. Becoming virtually bedridden and suicidal I took matters into my own hands by researching and then ordering the medicine. This allowed her to get my life back until the day a 20 man SWAT team broke my door down and took me away to jail in handcuffs in front of my daughter and 5 year old granddaughter. Four months later I was a convicted felon. My severe health problems were of no concern to anyone. I had been cornered by a system that prevents millions from being treated for illnesses and then punishes them for trying to treat themselves in order to survive. I created a web site and wrote my book to raise awareness to the conditions that allow for this kind of thing to happen. In reality, no one is safe. ( )
