No current Talk conversations about this book.

Set in the Adirondacks before the Civil War, this is a novel with good old-fashioned social consciousness about workers' rights and slavery packaged in an adventure story. The details of lumber jacking in the book are extraordinary and feel authentic, but surprisingly, there is much emphasis on relationships and conversations. I look forward to the the next two books in the trilogy.
