Summary:
This book is about counting animals while seeing them in their natural environments. It has vivid imagery and allows the child to count the animals.

Personal Reaction:
I liked the colorful pictures and the different animals. This book allowed me to not only relate the number but to count the animals also.

Classroom Extension Ideas:
1. we could make pictures of animals and have each kid with one number and the would draw that many animals and we would line up in order and ount

National Geographic little kids look&learn count! is a good low level counting book. It is a board book with amazing pictures. I really liked the set-up of the book. The first page for a number/animal would just be a colored background with the number prominently placed and for example three zebras. Then on the next page, it shows a picture of zebras running in their natural habitat asking if you can count three zebras and giving two fun facts. The book only counts to five in that format then on the last page shows 1-10 and 20. If a short counting book is what you are wanting this one is great! ( )
