A bilingual retelling of two Korean folktales, the first about Kil-dong who was the son of a high-ranking aristocrat and a mother who was servant to his father. He was very smart but could not take his place in government so he ran away to learn about the world. The second story is about a man who purchased the right to rest in the shade of a certain tree in town.
