This is a survey of samplers from across the country, and with such a variety to choose from, Edmonds has included some stunningly gorgeous pieces. My only complaint about the book is that I wish some of the reproductions were larger. In addition to information about the pieces themselves, Edmonds has attempted to locate information about the embroiderer, the school, and the teacher who designed the piece. Most of the pictures are in color. A good choice for a survey of American samplers. ( )
