This book was on my parents bookshelf in their bedroom. I'd take it down and look at it, wondering, so is this what we believe? All my school friends new things like the 10 Commandments and the Lord's Prayer--things of which I'd never heard. So this little book was my bible--carefully looked at and replaced without their knowing. On the title page, a formative quote for me: "All names that divide 'religion' are to us of little consequence compared with religion itself. Whoever loves Truth and lives the Good is, in a broad sense, of our religious fellowship; whoever loves the one or lives the other better than ourselves is our teacher, whatever church or age he may belong to." --W. C. Gannett
