A pretty short book with a high-level view of website design in our time of rapid increase in the use of mobile platforms and rapid evolution, and introduction, of the platforms themselves. Lots of advice and examples with no code. You could get as good an introduction to the topic from Web sources, but then it would take some time to collect the sources and winnow the collection. Worth reading, that is to say, but not exactly 'good'. ( )

"Mobile First" is a primer on thinking about designing internet sites and applications for consumption and use on mobile (primarily touch-screen) devices. Wroblewski introduces ideas through examples throughout the book, but almost never delves into code.

While I found the examples of good and bad design solid, I found it hard to engage with a book that reviewed the (sometimes obviously) established standards. ( )
