"The Shadows of Christmas Past"

What I liked about this novel.....

These were two opposite types of novels with one being a little sad but the other one made up for it with all of its humorous things that were going on in its story. Now, if you like magic with mystery, healing, suspense, vampires, werewolf's, shifters, paranormal (yes fantasy) and romance both of these reads along with the holiday Christmas spirit that will definitely put a smile on your face.

I found the stories were well written with some very interesting well developed characters that will keep you turning the pages till the end in these heartwarming tales. ( )

Both stories are about female veterinarians who can talk to animals, and both fit really well in the shorter length--they felt complete and not rushed.
**** "Rocky Mountain Miracle" by Christine Feehan. Nice story about abused brothers learning to trust with the help of a woman who talks to animals.
**** "A Touch of Harry" by Susan Sizemore. Another woman who talks to animals, this time paired up with a werewolf on the trail of some missing teen weres. She rescues a drugged wolf & ends up with a naked man in the cage in her clinic, and unknowingly hires him to find himself. ( )

Two Christmas novellas in one omnibus

Opening sentence of 'Rocky Mountain Miracle' by Christine Feehan "...Cole Steele could hear the screams from the room down the hall..."
Cole Steele is one grumpy man. He has returned to his family home after the death of his father (who local rumour says Cole murdered) to take custody of a brother he never knew existed (local rumour also has Cole wanting to murder the young brother) However, both rumours are wrong. Both the brothers were severely brutalised by their father, and both their mothers driven to their deaths. Christmas was always discouraged. The two brothers hate Christmas. Enter Maia Armstrong - local vet - communicator with animals and lover of Christmas. Wonderful little story

Opening sentence of 'A Touch of Harry' by Susan Sizemore "..."Was that a coyote?" ..."
Vet, Marjorie Piper, rescues a wolf from hunters and takes him home. Turns out the wolf is a werewolf and Harry turns back into human form and escapes. He then returns as a human to romance the good vet. What Harry doesn't know is that Marjorie can communicate with animals by mindreading - and finds herself increasingly confused by how she can communicate with Harry. Not as good as the first story - but still very readable ( )
