The action scenes are a little weak but the story is good enough to keep me reading. ( )

I was really not expecting to enjoy this as much as I did. After the last few underwhelming (but at least free) books*, this one came as a surprise. Am on the third now but have had no internet to update.

Although I really like fantasy and sci-fi, I did not like the series as it glorified witchcraft. I have the series but stopped with book one. Just not my cup of tea. The writing was fairly good but I did not like the way the story flowed back and forth in time. The older I get the more I appreciate sequence (beginning, middle, end) in stories. A little back story is necessary but this book just didn't flow for me. ( )

Upon re-read, I knocked it down a star. it's still a fun read, there's just a lot more questions and inconsistencies than I remember from my previous read. ( )
