Bob Greene is the one man in the world I am most envious of. He has the best job there could be; he gets to go out and find any story he can imagine, write it to make us feel as though we were there (he has an uncanny gift for asking the questions we would most like to ask), and have it published for millions to read. And he gets paid for it! This is a collection of his best columns. I think my favorites are the two about Joan Baez and Jack Benny, but his best ones are also about people you've never met, and never would have known about if not for his story, and you are better for having read it. Also poignant and wonderful is "A Secret Soul", about a shy and unlikely poet. ( )
