The title matches the story PERFECTLY! Sweetness was full of small bits (and sometimes big ones)of sweetness throughout the story. There were so many "awwwwww" moments and wonderfully executed scenes. I loved Lindsay Paige's writing style. It was simple and yet quite efficiently got the message through. All the characters were understandable and the story itself was AH-MAZING.

Character-wise Emily was okay. She was too..weak to be likeable in the beginning, but slowly as I got to know her and her story better, I started liking her. Sometimes, her childish nature became really irritating but overall, she was just fine I guess.

Jake was...well I don't know how to describe him. Guys like him are not real. He was SUPER understanding, SUPER patient, SUPER good-looking, SUPER sweet, SUPER everything. In short, HE WAS SUPERB!! While reading the story, I couldn't believe that a guy can do so much for a girl he likes. It was adorable. I think Jake sort of tops my list of sweetest guys in books. His character was fantabulous and his POV in the story was truly well-written by Ms. Paige.

The other characters were pretty cool too but I can't say much about them since the whole story basically revolved around Emily and Jake. I really liked Emily's dad and also little Drake. His upbeat and enthusiastic nature was cute and interesting.

All in all, Sweetness was really, really good and if you're a YA romance lover then you're absolutely gonna love it! With it's swoon-worthy and still in limits romantic scenes, enjoyable characters and an AWESOME story, it'll surely make your heart go pitter-pat! :D

Really good book! I just wish it was longer! Even though it was really short it was still super sweet and completely surprising! Emily's parents get divorced and her mom blamed her for everything. Her mom turned to drugs and alcohol but to get those she pimped her own daughter, Emily, out! She emotionally abused Emily as well by telling her she was ugly and unimportant. Anyway she meets Jake and his littl ebrother drake. Their father is an alcoholic (ever since their mother died of cancer)... but jake and emily fall in love:) ( )

Lindsay Paige's debut and first book in the Bold as Love Series, Sweetness, is indeed a sweet story. Sweetness flows at a fast pace in which readers are introduced to Emily and Jake right at the start. There's background information on both characters, but it's not an overload. There isn't a detailed description of Emily's background, but only a mention of a secret past while setting the scene of her present.

It's very clear how distinctly different Emily and Jake are from each other. Emily is a quiet soul always looking to be alone. Jake is outgoing, athletic, and determined to transform Emily back into the girl she once was. Their pairing for a school assignment was a little predictable, but the way Paige handled their coming together was unique. It took a little coaxing from Jake and Emily's father, but once they realized her old light shining through because of Jake's younger brother, Drake, they were able to bring joy and happiness back to her eyes.

The trouble I found reading Sweetness was the implication that Jake and Emily had extremely difficult lives without really reading the hows and whys. I found the execution of some scenes lacking dept, clarity and tact, which is probably why the story is on the short side. For instance, when Emily told Jake a little of the hard time with her mom, the explanation felt one toned and she downplayed the seriousness of her mother's verbal abuse. Jake's father is an alcoholic, leaving Jake to take care of everything and his little brother, but what makes his situation so different from the many other characters who have similar situations in other novels? How did he deal with his semi-absentee father and Emily's trauma all in the same breath?

I appreciate the message that Paige may have been trying to convey: love conquers all, but the themes in Sweetness were too big to fit in this high school romance story. ( )

Sweetness is a fantastic book. Emily was a shy girl completely in her shell, wouldn’t make eye contact with anyone and barely speak. Jake on the other hand was the complete opposite of her although both of them had bad pasts.

The book is quite emotional in places and romantic and a lot of turmoil too.
I liked seeing Emily come out of that awful shell she had herself in, and that Jake was the person to help her through it. With him having problems too it kind of makes sense why they are great together.

I read this book in about two hours it is only about 38390 words so a great book if you want to read something quick. I couldn’t put it down!

I was sad, happy, worried, all of those and probably more when reading Sweetness. I like a good romance and young adult genres so it was the perfect book for me to read.

Sweetness was really well written and detailed. I absolutely loved reading it. ( )
