For a research project I think this would be a great book for children to look at and reference. However, for a stand alone book, I think the value of this book is in its photographs and images, that bring the text to reality and life for children.

This book is broken up into small chapter segments, about Mayan and Aztec cultures and mythology. The pictures are of historical evidence that researchers have found. Would be a great book to offer for a small research project. The text is simple and the book is evenly balanced between pictures and text. There are many pictures and descriptions of the various gods they believed and what destruction the gods could do to their people. The people worked mainly in agriculture and this history would be interesting to young readers, around 1st and 2nd grade.
