Macari's poems are definitely from a feminine viewpoint. I'd love to know how many times she uses the word "blood" in this collection, but I'm too lazy to go back and count. Birthing is probably the strongest theme here, but she is not sentimental. In fact Macari is pretty tough. She also writes about the Garden of Eden, love, sex, death, and... washing dishes. I enjoyed the collection. ( )
