Classic London: The magnificent story of Buck, the California dog who is transported to Alaska during the Yukon gold rush
  Kelslynn | Mar 27, 2013 |
Buck’s life takes a traumatic turn when he mistakenly trusts his master’s employee, who bet him in a card game and lost. As a result, Buck is handed over to a life of hard work and intense labor, which is a far cry from his former life. Through his experiences he faces, he finds strength, courage, and an innate call of the wild that he never imagined existed. Though he must face great difficulties along the way, he learns how to trust again and how to answer the call within him. I read an adapted version that would be great for beginning readers, as well, as junior readers. ( )

Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 140271274X, Hardcover)

Following Sterling's spectacularly successful launch of its children's classic novels (240,000 books in print to date),comes a dazzling new series: Classic Starts. The stories are abridged; the quality is complete. Classic Starts treats the world's beloved tales (and children) with the respect they deserve--all at an incomparable price.

Here is the ultimate dog story, one filled with emotion, adventure, and excitement.
During the Gold Rush, Buck is snatched away from his peaceful home and brought to the harsh and bitter Yukon to become a sled dog. Will he adapt, and learn to trust men? Or will his newly awakened primitive instincts lead him to search for the freedom he has never known?

(retrieved from Amazon Thu, 12 Mar 2015 18:24:28 -0400)
