This book is the first book in the series 'Trilogy of turning points' by Klaus Kordon. In English the title means 'The red sailors or a forgotten winter'.
Summary:
This story plays in Berlin in the post-war winter of 1918/19 The main characters are Helle and Fritz and their working class families, who's lives are transformed when, after the long awaited return of the sailors, a revolution breaks out in the city when the sailors rebel against the government. Now Berlin erupts in chaos with marches, demonstrations and violence, all of which Helle witnesses but has never known. Although it is exciting for him at first, it quickly turns into a hardship as his family struggles to go on with their daily life. ( )
