This is the story of what it's like to be a devoted fan of one of football's most famous clubs, covering the seasons of a highly eventful five-year period from 2005/06 to 2009/10, a period which was surprising - even by Millwall standards! Starting by perfectly capturing the tension as chairmen and managers come and go and the despair felt by our optimist as the team is eventually relegated, it continues as another season passes, marked by the addition and too-frequent departure of players and a struggle to avoid relegation for a second successive year. The club survives and goes on to enjoy success culminating in a trip to Wembley for a nail-biting League One playoff final, which is lost, only to return the following season, this time to be victorious, winning promotion to the Championship.# Anyone who has ever given their loyalty to a football club will empathise with this Millwall optimist as he takes the reader through the full range of emotions experienced almost daily by all true fans as they support their teams through defeat and follow them to glory.
