Plantanimous is a view of the future and indeed a true possibility if science continues as it did. The only aspect possibly out of place is the inclusion of psychic ability. However within the book such an ability provides a deeper understanding of the characters without an omniscient narrator. Armillas also shows differences between the various races of the Plantanimus are beautifully created and exposes the complexities of human thinking.

On another note there is a mistake on page 468 near the bottom in the sentence ""I'm happy here, Ndugu, happier that I'd realized until the Kren offered to take us home."" 'that' should be 'than'. ( )
