Hey to everyone who sympathizes with me regarding Into the Wild - my class thought I was the crazy one! I'm glad others agree with me, as I thought I was being overly harsh...but I don't think so anymore! LOL Anyway, I have not been on LT forever, and I have a ton of catching up to do! ...

I read Into the Wild a while back and I also was tearing my hair out over Chris McCandless. He just seemed to arrogant and full of it. One of those guys who has no problem telling you how the crazy/eccentric way they live is THE only way and brush you off if you have a differing opinion. I ...

Book #92: Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer This is my first of a series of non-fiction novels that I will be reading for the grade 12 class I am teaching. Hopefully the rest will not follow in this vein though, because man did I hate this book. I feel strange about my ...

Trish - I read Into the Wild quite a long time ago, so I really cannot remember the details, but I think I wondered about the mental stability of the man. I wondered if he had some paranoid ideation - schizoid type. However, the reasons elude me now.

... this book and though I initially could not stand this series, I am really liking it now. My Rating: 4 Stars. 58. Into The Wild by Jon Krakauer. What possesses a young man who has all the trappings of the American dream to give it all up to trek the country? This is a question that ...

Into the Wild! I loved that book!

... are about events that end poorly. I'm wondering how Where Men Win Glory stands up to the rest of his books. I think Into the Wild was my favorite book of his. What about you?

I'm reading Into the Wild, as a group of my grade 12 students are reading it for class. I know that they worship Chris McCandless and his value system, but personally, I disagree (at least so far).

... There already were two books by Jon Krakauer that both my husband and I read and loved. They Were Into Thin Air and Into the Wild. (I just noticed both books started with the word "into". Weird!) I'll keep an eye on the one you just mentioned and will eagerly await your thoughts about ...

I listened to Into the Wild recently and found it very interesting. Krakauer's research and personal reflections made Chris much more sympathetic to me than I would have found him just based on his actions.

20. Into the Wild - Jon Krakauer (4 stars) The unabridged audio CD version was excellent. Moving and disturbing at the same time, I liked how the author interjected just the right amount of his own tale in the story. This comes across as a much deeper book than just the presentation of a ...

Looking up Into the Wild, LT's Recommendations led me to One Man's Wilderness: An Alaskan Odyssey about a guy who built a cabin in the wilds of Alaska. I haven't read it myself, but may be worth looking into anyway.

Nobody's mentioned Into the Wild? There's also Men Against the Sea the second book in Nordhoff and Hall's Bounty Trilogy which tells the story of Captain Bligh and his men after Fletcher Christian set them adrift. I'd also like to second Robert Heinlein's Tunnel in the Sky.

Just finished Velvet Elvis by Rob Bell and gave it to my dad who started it. Now I'm reading Into the Wild. I meant to read it after seeing the movie last year, so far it is great.

... than Into Thin Air. Under the Banner of Heaven is an important, thoughtful book -- I still think of it often. Into the Wild, while a good book, is my least-liked of any of Jon's work -- but it had more to do with the subject matter than the writing. I truly enjoyed Jon's ...

19. Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer 20. Maus: A Survivor's Tale by Art Spiegelman I found Into Thin Air by Krakauer to be more gripping, but Into the Wild was quite interesting as well. I appreciate his balanced look at McCandless, giving him credit where credit was due. Maus is a ...

I have read Into Thin Air, and I thought it was excellent. I didn't care for Krakauer's Into the Wild as much, though.

... Kid by Jeff Kinney - humor HAVE READ The Secret of Castle Cant by K.P. Bath – funny in parts and a fun read Into the Wild by Erin Hunter – good series about cats

Definitely read Into the Wild. I meant fiction, but not YA.

How grown up? Into the Wild is sort of a survival tale...

February was a slow reading month for me, but Fingersmith and Into the Wild were my favorites, with The Sum of Our Days in third.

I have not read Into the Wild, But I have read, The Never War.

Ah! A cousin-in-law just recommended Into the Wild over the weekend... perhaps I'll take the recommendation seriously after all. :)

16) Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer I first heard about this when the movie came out, but I didn't go see it. I think I'll have to get the DVD. The book was fascinating and compelling. I didn't want to put it down, and it makes me want to read more wilderness survival, mountain climbing type ...

... if possible. How amazing it is to see that landscape!! Jon Krakauer aslo has another book worth reading which is called Into the Wild. It's about a young man who went to Alaska to live in the wild, never to come out again, and who was eventually found dead in his cabin.

... a trend here. I apparently have a problem with nonfiction books being turned into movies. Ah, but here's an exception: Into the Wild was pretty good in both genres.

Great review of Under the Banner of Heaven. I really like Krakauer's books. Into Thin Air is fabulous. So is Into the Wild. It has been suggested to me (though I haven't done so yet) that Anatoli Boukreev's account of the Mt. Everest disaster (The Climb) be read as a companion piece ...

I also read The Climb and enjoyed it. I have read Krakauer's Under the Banner of Heaven and listened to Into the Wild on tape. My reactions to the last two were outrage and mystification, respectively. One day I'll get to Into Thin Air. A survival book I found hard to put down is Aliv ...

Into the Wild drove me crazy. I read it after Into Thin Air and something else by Krakauer and I like his work. But the young man was just so out of touch with reality that it really irritated me. At the time, my son was also finishing his Eagle requirements (and as the daughter of an Eagle), ...

>> Prop2gether, I'll be sure to do that. I finished (49) Into the Wild last night. It was not a very interesting book, by I hear Krakauer's other book Into Thin Air is much better, so I think I'll give him another chance. Into the Wild is an easily forgotten book.

#85 miss_chievous I read Into the Wild I thought it was a good read, although I have to say, I felt more annoyed than sympathetic about Christopher McCandless. I thought he was selfish to put his family through what he did...but that's just my opinion. #87 MusicMom41 - fortunately, I have book ...

I'm reading Into the Wild for school, and I just began Alison Weir's, The Lady Elizabeth. I still can't get Weir's name touchstoned.
