As is the case with this series it is pretty much same story different people. The one nice surprising change is the interesting paranormal beginning to the book. Catheine Coulter still spins an interesting tale no matter how pradictable. Following Savach and Sherlock as they help journalist Callie Markham figure out how her stepfather Stewart Califano was killed in the supreme court building and why, is quite a trip. While easy to follow, Coulters knowledge and research on the subject mater makes it an interesting read :-) ( )

Confession: I really don't like these books, but I continue to read them. I don't buy them, but get them passed down from my mother...who does spend money on them. I'm not sure what this says about me...

Coulter's writing is incredibly formulaic. If you've read one of her FBI books, you can pretty well tell what will happen. This one features the assassination of a Supreme Court Justice, followed by attacks on members of his staff. There's a side story which focuses on Savich and his dreams concerning the ghost of a young mother murdered 30 years earlier. Also, surprise, surprise, there's a blossoming romance between one of the law enforcement officers and the strong-willed step daughter of the murdered justice that goes unconsummated until the last chapter of the book.

Acceptable beach or bathtub reading. ( )

FBI thrillers- all have the same premise but are fun to listen to ( )

The murder of a Supreme Court Justice brings Savich and Sherlock home quick from a vacation that had turned strange with the appearence of a 'ghost' that asked Savich for help. The Justices' stepdaughter, Callie Markham, an Investigative reporter from 'The Washington Post' asks to be a involved with the investigation. Being the stepdaughter, she is paired with Metro Police Detective Ben Raven. Within 24 hours, another murder and then a few days later, another murder all with the same MO. They think they know who, but the why is the biggest mystery.

The ghost side story is very different, but it is an interesting addition. The typical way of Savich and Sherlock let others do a lot and they come to help, not true in this one, they are front and center more so than Callie and Ben. I felt a little cheated not getting to know them as well as most of the past characters. I was also sad to see Sherlock be so wrong about someone, she was duped and that is not her normal. ( )

FBI Thriller - Sherlock and Savich are back investigating the brutal murder of a Supreme Court Justice. This team are faced with the two of the most baffling and shocking cases of their careers.

Catherine Coulter is at her best with these FBI Thrillers. ( )
