Learning about the presidents is an important part of almost every student’s social studies education. It is important for students to know who leads our country and how the election process works. In the reference book, I GREW UP TO BE PRESIDENT, students can find information about all of the presidents from their childhood to adulthood. The author also includes an excellent section on how elections and the government work. Also included are resources for students to find additional information about the different presidents. Additionally, this book is very user-friendly. The table-of-contents at the beginning of the book helps students locate different presidents quickly. The glossary at the end helps define many of the terms students might not understand in the book. This book would be great in a third-to fifth-grade social studies class. The teacher could have each student pick a president to do a research project. Students could take lots of information from this book. Overall, the organization, pictures, and information in this book make it a very beneficial addition to a classroom library. ( )
