معمولاً قبل اینکه کتابی رو بخونم نظرات بقیه رو نمی‌خونم اما خیلی اتفاقی نظر بقیه دوستان رو از بربادرفته قبل خوندن کتاب دیدم و انقدر نظرات منفی بود که یه کم دلسرد شدم از خوندنش اما به شخصه خیلی ازش لذت بردم. البته که داستان به مرور هر چی جلوتر می‌ره بیشتر جا میفته و اتفاقاتش جذاب‌تر می‌شه اما در کل اگه علاقه‌ای به تاریخ جهان و مخصوصاً آمریکا داشته باشید، این کتاب برای دوره‌ی جنگ داخلی آمریکا خیلی هم می‌تونه جذاب باشه.

چیز جالبی که من رو جذب می‌کرد این بود که اولین باری بود که یه کتاب از دیدگاه یک جریان مغلوب می‌خوندم... جنوبی‌ها جنگ رو باخته و برده‌ها رو از دست داده بودند و حالا برخلاف چیزی که همیشه تو فیلم‌های آمریکایی می‌بینیم، روی بد جنگ و ظلم‌های شمالی‌ها رو هم می‌بینیم. هر چند به نظرم مارگارت میچل به خصوص درباره‌ی رفتارهایی که با برده‌های سیاه‌پوست می‌شده خیلی لاپوشونی کرده اما بعد خوندن این کتاب به خودم گفتم شاید اون دوران برده‌داری اونقدر که فکر می‌کنیم پر از نفرت نبوده. جالبه که تو خود کتاب نشون داده می‌شه که شمالی‌ها (که برده‌ها رو آزاد کردند) رفتاری تحقیر‌آمیزتر و نژادپرستانه‌تر از جنوبی‌ها به سیاهپوستان دارند. A great read, never boring. The last great novel by someone who actually lived during the civil war/reconstruction era. Romantic soap opera is not what i usually read, but this is magnificent. ( )
