SunnySD's review
japanese assassin Azami Yoshiie is playing a dangerous game - one by one picking off the mad doctor Whitney's corrupt supporters. But now she's learned of a plot to sacrifice one of the GhostWalkers, Now, with her brothers beside her, she's stepping into what may be a trap to warn them - but if what she finds is less than what she hopes, death will follow.

More plot than in recent books, and it's nice to catch up on the rest of the team. ( )

Great book as usual. I love all the "game" series books! ( )

I loved it! I am an admitted Feehan addict and have given 5 stars to every single one of her books. This book is no different. It seemed a little bit more like one of her Dark series books because the H/h had a psychic connection, almost instantly fell in love, and never fought with each other.

The heroine, Azami, was amazing. With her killer skills and brilliant mind (not to mention long eye lashes - please don't mention them again!), she was a great character to meet. Sam was a great hero being equally smart and skilled. I thought they made a great couple. The action scenes and plot were interesting. The description of what happened to her when she was a child was nauseating, and I skimmed through those parts.

It also seemed like she kicked up the heat in this one or my memory is just bad (more likely the latter!). The first "real" scene didn't kick in until around 50%, but I think the one scene lasted for about 20% of the book!

Here is a better blurb about the book from the Feehan group posted by the author:
"I’m currently working on Samurai Game, a very exciting action/thriller/romance. My heroine, Thorn, was taken from an orphanage in Japan, enhanced by Dr. Whitney and when he couldn’t find exactly what her psychic ability was, he deemed her useless for anything other than experimentation. His experiments were brutal and at age eight, he threw her away, back to the streets of Japan, in the worst neighborhood, forgetting all about her. Thorn never forgot about him.

Team One is back in full force, and the story is action packed. The chemistry between Thorn and Sam Johnson sizzle. Sam is brilliant and has the most amazing psychic abilities. With his enhancements he and Thorn make a formidable team to fight an unexpected enemy and take out the lifeline between Dr. Whitney and the White House." ( )

Now I've had my ups and downs with Christine Feehan, her Dark whatever series makes me cranky but I like this series. This is one of the best of this series that I have read.

Sam Johnson is a smart guy, multiple degrees and a talented soldier his paranormal abilities make him good at infiltration and taking out soldiers. When he meets Azami "Thorn" Yoshiie he's smitten and he finds a worthy partner in her, if they both can stay alive. Both of them are orphans, both were found by caring people who did their best but both have to deal with their pasts and with various issues. Whitley is their target and Azami's not sure if she can trust Sam because he trusts the daughter of the man who tortured her.

Azami is a great character and while she bends for the relationship, she's still her own person. Sam was also a lot of fun. The ending felt a bit rushed but overall this story kept me interested. The push and pull of the romance was fun to watch and the characters entertained me. ( )

While I enjoyed this one more than the last one I read about the Ghostwalkers there were still a couple of slow spots (bedroom scenes that go on forever that I pretty much skipped). The story was OK and I liked the new heroine well enough but I'm still thinking that I'll only read any further volumes in the series from the library. It's about time for Ms. Feehan to come up with some new ideas. Definitely escapist reading.

I continue to love this series of books. This is Sam Johnson story. He is a member of Team One. All of Team One and Team Two have now moved to the mountains of Montana adjacent to the Norton brothers. Ryland and Lily's son, Daniel, is a toddler and is showing extraordinary talents. Jack and Briony have twin boys that are also showing talents. Mari and Ken are expecting a baby. Someone is killing off the people in Washington that are helping Dr. Peter Whitney. The teams don't realize who it is until the meet Azami Yoshii. She has come to the compound to help install a satellite so the Ghostwalkers can try to keep track of anyone that is trying to sneak up on them. Azami and her two brothers own the satellite company and are attacked as they arrive at the compound. Sam Johnson is with the group and goes after the attackers. He is amazed and delighted with the way Azami handles herself during the fight. Azami is Thorn one of the original girls who has taken on the mission to destroy Dr. Whitney be any means necessary.

As usual Ms. Feehan has written a wonderful story full of romance, nasty villians, and lots of action. I enjoyed reading about the members of Team One and Two. Especially the members we haven't heard much about. It was nice to know that they had banded together and are building up defenses against Whitney and his band of ruffians. There is mention of Violet and her returning to Whitney which can't bode well for any of the Ghostwalkers. I definitely enjoyed watching Azami, Thorn grow and become a better person. She was such a broken and abused little girl and Sam was the perfect mate. He is so dominant, but gentle and understanding. I was glad that his stepdad wasn't the traitor. I think this was the best of this series so far. I anxiously await the next book. ( )
