Good book to use with body motions, you can tie and physical education movement into a lesson by reading this book and dancing like a snake. ( )

Kids will join the rattle snake dance as you read this fun book. The rattel snakes get together in a cave for a party once a year. I would use this book with PK-1st grades when doing a theme on snakes. I like this book becuase it uses song and movement.

A snake is slithering in the desert one day. He founds a hole inside a passageway and decides to wrap into a coil. then he starts all of a sudden shaking into a kind of trance. He is doing the rattlesnake dance then a bunch of snakes are gathered in the cave doing the same. Every year they will meet and have that party of doing the rattlesnake dance.

Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 0399227555, Hardcover)

One desert day hot as a frying pan, a rattlesnake slithered across the sand.

Little does this rattlesnake know that soon he'll be doing...the rattlesnake dance! And you'll be doing it too!

Preeminent naturalist Jim Arnosky has created not only a book of pure fun, but he's written a song and made up a dance to go along with it. With over thirty-five children's books to his credit, as well as a feature on Reading Rainbow, Jim Arnosky's love of nature--both serious and fun--has influenced children all over the country for decades.

Little Lions was named one of the Top Ten 1998 Animal Books for Children by Booklist, who called it "a picture book with a fine combination of dignity and playfulness."
