Fascinating and absorbing account of the Elizabethan spy network and the events which lead to its formation. This is a meticulously researched book, which details the machinations of the great English aristocratic houses of Essex, Northumberland and Essex, to the constant concerns regarding a catholic uprising and a European invasion and how Walsingham et al manipulated these concerns. Superb. ( )
