As expected of Lisa Kleypas, this is another great piece of literature. Confirming my hunch as correct, Logan Scott is the hero paired with the innocent Madeline Matthews aka Madeline Ridley. I had to admire Logan's consistency, he's still a profit-oriented character, but later on we find out his money also goes to charitable funds, particularly former actors/employees.

The pairing was perfect, like all jaded heroes, Logan found Maddy's innocence a breath of fresh air and he masked the attraction very well by being harsh on her, only Julia was able to see through his charade. The story happens four years after "Somewhere I'll Find You" and in here Julia's at her second pregnancy.

Everything was going along Maddy's perfect plan, enlisting the help of Nell Florence, Julia's former mentor, until everything got too far, characters got carried away, emotion, lust, and love swept them off their feet. It's just the right mixture of betrayal, misleading intentions, and character redemption - which all played out very well.

There were a lot of interesting developments when it came to Logan's blood ties. I liked Maddy's resilience, on the outside she looks like fine china but inside there's an iron will that I admired. She's dauntless when pursuing her goals, and she cried a lot in here but for good reason, with everything she went through she didn't whine or complain. She took the blame for the pain she inevitably caused and as for Logan, I wouldn't blame him for how he reacted. It's quite unfair sometimes but that's in his nature. If everything was said and done at the right time, things would've gone smoothly, but what good is a story without conflict, right?

This is another story where the characters were well introduced, the plot thickens, conflicts arise, there's a good climax (and not just in bed), and a good way to resolve those conflicts. LK's writing brought out emotions, a little humor, and "magic". I was happy with the way it ended, and I'm off to read Andrew's story in the Wish List anthology. ( )

This love story takes place in times where girls belonged to men after marriage and they were considered property. This story is one where a girl challenges this unspoken rule and creates a future for herself. Instead of marrying the man chosen for her by her parents, she goes in seach of a way to make herself undersireable- to ruin herself with a man's help. However, her plan goes horribly wrong and emotions are thrown on the table. This rivetting tale is full of suspense and passion and is very difficult to put down. ( )

Lisa Kleypas is an autobuy for me. I have adored many of her other works. This book just didn't do it for me.

Normally I am all for the mistreated historical heroine who must take control of her own life, but there was something about this particular plotline that failed to gel.

As usual, Kleypas has created some very memorable characters, some of whom I hope to meet in other books. I think that I just did not like the fact that Madeline was so blatantly throwing herself at Logan. I am not a history snob and have no problem with suspending my disbeleif on behalf of a good story, but I had issues this particular aspect of the plot. It seemed as if Madeline was a teenybopper with a master plan for snaring a Jonas Brother.

The story was well written, but just wasn't quite my thing.

The book that got me started on my historical romance fetish. Could have had something to do with the fact that the main character reminded me of Wolverine. Still very hot, and very good. ( )

Book description
Because the Dream. . .
Young, high-spirited Lady Madeline Matthews is expected to wed an aging, lecherous lord. But she would rather shame herself in the eyes of society than sacrifice her freedom, and resolves to render herself unmarriageable by indulging in a torrid affair with Britain's most acclaimed actor and notorious womanizer, Logan Scott.

Because the Heart. . .

He is a legend in the footlights and in the bedchamber. But when the curtain falls, Logan is an intensely private, guarded man still tormented by past betrayals that cut deep into his pride and his heart. Now a forward little minx who seems completely out of place in the bright, sophisticated world of the London stage is disrupting his orderly existence with her constant presence, her unspoiled beauty and vibrant charm. And what begins with an onstage kiss threatens to blossom into something more rapturous and real. But first Logan and Madeline both must be brave enough to drop the masks they hide behind. . . and reveal their true selves in the golden glorious light of love.
