First words
Foreward: As everyone must surely know, Hollywood is now a subject for the Schliemanns, the Toynbees, and the Gibbons -- a Pompei buried in the ashes of account receivable, its Caesars long gone to their final resting or testing place, an occasional chipped column still standing amid the rubble as a lonely reminders, the sagas of its former glory told around the fires of middle-class barbeques, along the antiseptic corridors of TV studios and assembled in scholarly fashion by graduate students in theses on ancient history.  --Alan Jay Lerner
Introduction: I seem to be casting myself against type.
