    alexumacob: The Jesuits in the Philippines is actually a thesis for the PhD of Fr. dela Costa, in history, at the Harvard University in the early 1960s. It is a book that chronicles the activities of the first wave of jesuits that arrived in in the Philippines n 1581 until their expulsion in 1768. This was before the era of the Ateneos in the islands. There is a chapter on the first synod of Manila and the rest were activities on the early attempts in evangelization.This book has a reprint lately by the catholic publications. My copy was given by a jesuit. I am recommending this book for those interested in church and mission history of the early Jesuits in the Philippines.… (more)
