Three Young Pilgrims

A good choice for a Thanksgiving picture book. The text is factually based, but the author adds realistic details in order to flesh out the story and help children understand the Thanksgiving story. The art is colorful and detailed, with several full page spreads (rather like appendices) full of facts that will especially appeal to an older elementary audience trying to put the story in the larger context of civilization. One spread details events in history at this time. Another spread explains the major Indian people and tribes at the time. Two pages are devoted to the pilgrims, and another two are devoted to the "strangers." Also includes an excellent bibliography for further study.

This book is perfect for children who want to understand a bit more about the Pilgrims and their voyage to America. This book has good illustrations and is very informative.
