Loading... The Midnight Farm (1987)by Reeve Lindbergh
None. The tour of a farm at night and the different things you will find. this book is about the different animals on the farm in the darkest hours I love this quiet, beautiful book. It reads like a lullaby, with strong images of nighttime that are friendly and warm. This exploration of night is, according to PW, "a rare depiction of the 'heart of the darkness,' not only as a safe, snug place, but as a celebration of life, hope and wonder." This book rhymes so of course I enjoyed it. They paintings were realistic and very well done. I think any age group would like it because there are so many types of animals in it. It’s very easy to understand and easy to read aloud. The students I read this book to did not really like it because they said it was boring. Which for a child anxious to go around and run around I would think it would be pretty boring. But none the less it is a well written book.
This book would be perfect for a study over farm or farm animals. It does not teach you much about the farm animals but it has a great description in the illustrations and it shows different colors and sizes of animals so that the children learn that there is more than one type or color of a certain animal. I think the children would be able to learn more from the illustrations than the actual story itself.
