This is the first of a four book series which feature Emily and Henry Bryce. Emily is a kooky and somewhat scatter-brained character who owns a small business which is devoted to painting and decorating furniture. Henry in this first story works for Emily and although he is very fond of her, tries to avoid her almost daily marriage proposals.
The story begins with with the murder of one of their clients, the newly divorced Mrs Cleo Delaphine. This unpleasant lady has been shot and both Emily and Henry are suspects.
Others under suspicion include Roscoe, who also works for Emily in a lowly position,Mrs Delaphine's ex-husband and Lincoln Simpson, who owns an Antique shop nearby.
To find genuinely funny crime stories is rare indeed, but here you have one in all it's glory.I really did find myself laughing out loud. ( )
