The movie was kind of "meh" (but in a lovable way), so I wasn't really expecting much from the book. However! I thought this was hilarious and enjoyable and definitely worth getting. I had a grand time reading it-- the characters were a riot and the writing style was thankfully up to par. (Anything less and the whole thing would have sunk.)

Recommended for fans of dark humor, surrealism, and stay-at-home-dads. ( )

Book description
James Krippendorf has a problem. Once an anthropologist destined for great things, he received a large research grant to do field work in the Amazon--and has since spent the money on a new car and a vacation. Now the father o three unruly children is spending his time lusting after the mother of one of his kid's schoolmates, keeping a lid on his son's pyrotechnical tendencies, and trying to figure out what he's going to do next. And just when Krippendorf realizes he's going to have to pay back his grant money, fate intervenes. In his quiet suburb he suddenly discovers a people as primitive, fascinating, and unknown as any in the Amazon. And they were right before his eyes all along. Now, with a few fake photographs and some clever writing, Krippendorf can embark on the adventure of a lifetime, and tell the world of his most amazing discovery...(From the back cover)
