Rainbow Bunny's Day follows Bunny and Red bird thru a change in weather thru out the day. First the noise of the clouds rolling in. Then the pitter patter of rain drops. Finnaly the day ends with a rainbow.
This was a beauifully illustrated book that captured my childrens attention with the inticate words used to describe the weather changes. I explained to them that poetry does not have to ryhme but has to flow.
They liked the silly words used, especially plip, plop, splash.
In a classroom setting I might have them make sounds with their toungues for the rain or snaps with their fingers for the bunny running. Bringing an artsy aspect into it we could draw or paint pictures and use cotton balls for the tail or red feathers for the wings. I would also have them come up with another poem that didnt necessarily rhyme but floowed just for a better understanding. ( )
