Work detailsAltar Ego by Kathy Lette
None. Londoner Becky calls off her wedding to earnest lawyer Julian, then later marries him despite her steamy affair with black American rock star Zack (who has a weird accent: "yer" for "you"?). Her best friends Anouska and Kate rally to support her, except when they don't. The author is trying for a madcap romp, but it was mostly distasteful. ( )LIghtweight, frothy fun narrated by a reluctant bride who is so solipsistic that it is hard to identify with her. I think that I would have liked it more were I an adolescent girl. It did, however, include some very funny moments but not enough to make it worthwhile. no reviews | add a review
