This is the interesting tale of how Gorfinkel's experience in Friends meeting opened her to uniting with her Jewish heritage and joining her synagogue (as she continued to attend Friends meeting). It opens questions of what it means to be Jewish, as well as what it means to be a Quaker, about being religious in secular America, and about the path from a secular to a religious life. It also offers glimpses into some Jewish experience in America, a bonus for those unfamiliar with it. ( )
