This one seemed a bit too short. Put together as it is it's a great novella, but I wish there had been more between the lines. The 'romance' doesn't seem to be supported enough. So many things were well written, that it made the center of the book seem a bit empty or lacking. Or it just moved faster than I thought fitting. This would have been excellent with 50 more pages or so and a few more scenes developing the relationship between Cara and Finn.

That said, I did like the book. Finn is adorably insecure for himself but he is so completely focused on Cara as he sees her it's seductive. Parts of Cara's character with her thoughts and realizations stumbled a bit, but she was still engaging. Finn and the story made up for not liking Cara as much. It's a nice story of coming into your own, realizing your life doesn't end at 40 and you still can make something of yourself. I've never read Jana Richards before, but I'm going to check out some of her other books. ( )
