I worked with 4th graders a year ago, and all the boys were reading Geronimo Stilton. That is why I decided to read it too. This specific story is about an adventure in Japan, fighting with ninjas to recover a long-lost fighting technique. There are lots of pictures and short chapters what makes this book very easy to read. Geronimo Stilton considers himself the most important mouse around. He is a best selling author and runs The Rodent's Gazette on Mouse Island. He fancies himself to be a scaredy mouse but has done quite a bit of traveling in spite of it. He is pretty routine when at home, for example, on Saturdays he eats a large cheese pizza, one large mozzarella milk shake, and one large cheese danish. He also always wears his pj's and cat-fur slippers. It wasn't until he received a call from Wild Willie that his routine was interrupted. You see, Wild Willie is very adventurous. When Geronimo goes out to meet Willie he finds himself in a very odd predicament. Geronimo has been bamboozled. He was put on a stage as the assistant to Willie, but not just any assistant. Geronimo has suddenly become Wild Willie's karate assistant. Photographers snapped and flashed their cameras and spectators clapped and squeaked as Geronimo was kicked, smacked and chopped by Willie. But that wasn't all, Wild Willie announces to the crowd and Geronimo's family that Geronimo will travel with him to Japan where Karate was born. Geronimo goes along with this unwelcome adventure just to save himself any further embarrassment in front of his family, with the hope he will survive the adventure. Geronimo Stilton has an exciting series of stories. Boys and girls alike will love the quirky illustrations found throughout the book and the humor they display. Bold and varied fonts make reading a lot of fun. Middle graders will learn about Tokyo, Japanese cuisine, and so many other fun facts about the culture of Japan. The back of the book shows layouts of the gazette, New Mouse City and Mouse Island. no reviews | add a review

When Wild Willie showed up at my door and invited me to travel with him to Japan, I jumped at the chance. We were in search of an ancient, legendary samurai scroll that holds the secret to a long-lost fighting technique. The scroll had fallen into the wrong hands, and it was up to me and Wild Willie to track it down and save the day. But first, we would have to fight a group of talented ninjas. Holey cheese -- this would be one adventure I would never forget! No library descriptions found. |
