A classic I never read when I was a kid. Once I got comfortable with the writing, I really enjoyed the story. I never realized there were 4 in this series, so I will definitely read the other 3. There were points where I felt like Twain was just rambling about something that had nothing to do with the story and those dragged on but once you get past that it gets better. ( ) I love the book because it is a classic, and accurately portrays life during that time, but I still struggle with the language in the book, even though I know times were different then. That being said, the core values of working hard and obeying authority are values I would love see return to America. It is a great read as a student or as someone who wants to understand more about country life and the past. HTML: The orphan Tom Sawyer, raised by his aunt, is never out of trouble for long. A mischievous, charming boy (not to mention genius at escaping from trouble), Tom's adventures involve many unwitting bystanders. From one moment to the next, the boy could change into a pirate, or ship's captain - when he's not trying to win Becky Thatcher for a sweetheart, of course. Tom is also a friend of Twain's other beloved boy-hero, Huckleberry Finn. .No library descriptions found. |
