En teenagepige Amy Jacobs bliver bortført midt om natten fra det soveværelse, hun deler med sin lillesøster. Bortføreren som politiet hurtigt får færten af er en Carl Wade, som var assistent, da klassen fik taget skolefotos. Amys billede manglede, da de skulle have dem udleveret og det gjorde Carl Wade også. Samtidig med at Amy blev bortført, fik en ung kvinde Lucy Householder ca 30 kilometer derfra et anfald af næseblod og besvimede. Hun sagde de samme ord "Ingen skal komme imellem os ..." som bortføreren sagde til Amy.
