I would use this book when teaching history and teaching students about the revolutionary war. I would use this book with third or fourth readers and have them write a poem about what they learned about Sam Houston. This would be a good writing topic because it is someone they probably have never heard about that they can creat poetry about accomplishments he made.

This book was full of great information of Sam Houston. The book dove into all his greatest accomplishments. These accomplishments include Fighting for freedom from Mexico. Becoming the President of the Republic of Texas. Sam Houston was a very brave courageous man who did a lot for his people. This book had fairly large text with large pictures telling the story. The pictures were bright and I feel like the children will really enjoy this book. Or maybe have it during a history lesson. ( )

This book is just as simple as explaining the life of young Sam Houston and his success that he has accomplished. He was the President of the Republic of Texas after he fought for hid freedom from Mexico. It's a lot of history facts and interesting for a social studies or history class. ( )

I think books like this are good to keep in the classroom. It simply explains the life of Sam Houston and his sucess. It shows his journey of commanding an army, being governor, senator and president of Texas. ( )
