I just love Terry Pratchett. It took me some time to get started on this one, but I'm so very glad that I did. What a hoot! It is a joy to visit Terry Pratchett's world. I'm very sorry that he is gone. ( )

Stephen Briggs' wonderful narration brought this young adult novel up to a 4 star rating. While I was pleasantly surprised to find Pratchett's Dodger a separate character from the Dickens one in Oliver Twist, the story as a whole I found less successful than his Discworld books. Maybe people who haven't read the original Dickens would like this better... ( )

Fun audio book set in England during the time of Charles Dickens and Disraeli. Reminds you of reading Dickens and also of Les Miserables because of the Paris sewers. ( )

Dodger (played by Luke Skywalker) is an orphan who is brought up by grandpa (Uncle Owen and Aunt Bru). Grandpa Dies. Dodger makes friend with Solomon (Obi Wan Kenobi), an older man who has a special arrangement with the universe. He has a soul which he looks after and helps Dodger look after his soul too. Armed only with his lightsaber/wand/SweeneyTodd'srazor and accompanied by Gaspode the dog (R2D2), Dodger must rescue the princess from the faceless evil of Darth Vader (Lord Voldemort). ( )

Clever bit of historical fiction, set in the early 1800's. Dodger, a tosher, roams the London sewers looking for coins. In so doing, he stops a woman from being brutally beaten, interacts with journalist Charlie Dickens and other characters - both fictional and historical - falls in loves, and focuses on rescuing the woman. A little intrigue, a little history, a bit of fun. ( )

The rain poured down on London so hard that it seemed it was dancing spray, every raindrop contending with its fellow for supremacy in the air and waiting to splash down.
